Principles and funding
Three rules govern everything the Initiative publishes.

Symmetry
The core text of every briefing is identical for every recipient, word for word. If our work leaks, and documents of this kind usually do, that consistency is the proof of impartiality.

Evidentiary discipline
Every factual claim is confirmed against at least two independent sources before transmission. Allegations of covert operations or sabotage that cannot be proven do not appear in our work in any form, whatever their popularity. A single refutable claim would cost the whole document its credibility, and the argument does not need such claims.

No moralising
We do not adjudicate the justice of any party's cause, in any conflict we study. We analyse costs, incentives and obtainable outcomes. Readers looking for a verdict on who is right will not find one here.
Funding
The Initiative is funded entirely from its founder's personal resources. It accepts no funding, fees or direction from any government, intergovernmental body, political party, defence contractor or entity affiliated with any of these. If this changes in any respect, this page will say so before anything else does. Should the Initiative in future offer paid analytical services, its public briefings will remain free, identical for all readers, and editorially separate from any client work, and a client-exclusion policy will be published on this page in advance.
